I have been fortunate enough to have lived in 14 countries across 5 continents so far, and after speaking to many expats, I've learnt that current expat resources don't fully solve their problems. Here are some of the points that were mentioned:

1. There is an oversupply of information, particularly in places like expat Facebook groups, expat Subreddits, and expat Discord servers. It can be very time consuming to go through all the posts and comments to find information that is reliable, and relevant to one's situation.

2. Getting genuine responses or helpful insights can be challenging. There are too many trolls and negative/unnecessary comments when seeking for advice or help. This makes many people hesitate to ask for help or seek advice again.

3. Many people don't feel comfortable sharing a problem that might be sensitive for them or considered "taboo", especially on a public forum.

4. Even though technology has made the world more connected, it is still hard to meet new people and make new friends in a new country.

This is exactly why I decided to start Host.
